Message of Mary Most Holy of 14 August 2021, “I Have Told You Everything”[1], Mt 6, 24-34
I ask myself, and I also do it for you, what do we want to express our gratitude for on this special occasion? Do we want to thank Mary for Her presence, for coming among us? I also ask myself personally: what should I be thankful for? What words should I say to Mary, who stands before me and before each of you with the desire to speak to us? How can we express our gratitude to Her? Thank you for…
I will not say what I am grateful for, but I advise each one of you to ask yourselves the same question, in a moment of silence, in a personal dialogue, standing before Mary: “What am I grateful to Mary for?” There is a risk that we express gratitude simply because people do so, because She appeared, because miracles occurred or because it was an opportunity to make a trip to Medjugorje. If we fail to engage in a personal and vibrant relationship, as it should be with God and Mary, we risk remaining on the surface, sliding into mere religiosity and routine without truly entering into life.
Later on, I also reflected on the fact that while speaking with people, who live in Medjugorje and own hotels or shops, I noticed that they express gratitude because the apparitions have brought prosperity. Could this have been Mary’s purpose? To appear there so that those poor people, who previously relied on tobacco and shepherding, would become wealthy? Could this truly have been Maria’s wish?
We know what the purpose of Her apparitions was because She told us: it was to prepare the people for the events that we are currently experiencing.[2] I add – I believe I am not mistaken – that Mary appeared in 1981 as a last attempt to see if perhaps there was no need to create the Central Nucleus and the dimension we are experiencing now, hoping that the Church would respond. Maybe the Church would have announced life in the Universe before the year 2000. Mary wanted to try. Then, She prepared the Central Nucleus, the extraordinary instruments[3] and the ordinary instruments, of which we are a part. She prepared the Sanctuary-Portal “The Face of Mary”[4]; She prepared all these things within us, in spirit, in those who were willing to listen to Her. Those who wanted to see miracles and repeatedly climbed the hills in search of extraordinary events were left free to do so.
As we progress and express our gratitude for Her apparitions, we realise that it is indeed true that “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded” (Lk 12,48). Therefore, the parishioners and friars of Medjugorje were asked for something more. She appeared every Thursday and guided the parish, but one day, She appeared weeping and subsequently ceased to come. Then, the apparitions for everyone that take place once a month began, but the apparitions that used to guide the parish stopped in 1984 or 1987, I do not remember the exact year.
We say, “It is beautiful that Our Lady appears! What great joy!” Let us also reflect on what She has bestowed upon us: She has given us countless graces! She has guided us, spoken to us, explained things to us and even went into the details. Now we have a deeper understanding of Her life, Her relationship with St. Joseph and St. John.[5] We now know many things, but let us consider carefully the responsibility that comes with it.
In Her last message of14 August, two years ago, She said that She had told us everything and that She expected us to put into practice the teachings we had received. She said that we were Her Church and that She was our Mother.[6] I would like to add that we must be careful that not only Her presence is missing but also ours as happened to the parishioners and friars of Medjugorje. I have no fear of saying this and I accept the consequences.
We express our gratitude for the trust She has placed in us, for calling us, for including us in God’s plan and for the true development of the New Creation, which is the new, personal relationship of each one of us with God, with Mary and with the Church.
On this day of celebration, we celebrate the approaching fulfilment of God’s plan; we also celebrate because we are in end times and because finally a definitive end will be put to this humanity, that is, to this way of living, to this attitude, which has penetrated each of us, drawing us away from our true nature as children of God. We must admit it, and we must express gratitude because we will reach that final point.
However, let us strive to live with responsibility, fully aware that these times can be either wonderful or terrible, depending on the choices we make. Our choice does not consist in simply saying, “I belong to the Church”.[7] If we belong to the Church, we must live according to what the Church promotes, keeping pace with what the Church is developing and with what the Holy Spirit is inspiring. We cannot live solely based on our own thoughts and ideas, thinking that we are the Church. We must follow the guidance of Mary Most Holy, Queen and Mother of the Church, who leads and guides us. Refusing to keep pace with Her is a betrayal; it means saying “No”. We cannot thank Mary for Her coming without fully embracing Mary’s thoughts and Mary’s plan. If we focus on our own ideas, Her coming creates a problem because we can no longer claim not to know Her plan. It is a joy if we live it fully; if we do not follow Her testimony, Her presence and Her intercession, it will become a condemnation for us. For when we stand before the Lord, He will say, “Were you not one of those who attended all the gatherings? Did you not hear all of Mary’s messages and My messages? Did you not hear Father Tomislav? You greeted each other, didn’t you? Where are you now? Where did you go afterwards?” Read the Gospel carefully where Jesus said, “Away from me, you evildoers!” and the others responded, “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?” He answered, “I never knew you. Away from me.”[8] Jesus was talking about this.
The joy of having a relationship with Mary entails responsibilities. It is said that living with a saint is difficult. Those who have a saint in their family know that it is quite challenging. Why is that? Because it is beautiful if we follow the saint, if we die to ourselves, if we transform and change our thinking, but if we do not, we have someone who constantly confronts us with our mistakes. This is difficult to accept. It is easier to live with people who are like us because then we can make mistakes together, justifying each other by saying, “It is fine!” Living with Mary is like this. She is the best of all mothers; She is the most beautiful thing that can happen to us, an endless and continuous joy, but only if we are willing to change.
Indeed, I am happy to live in these times with the graces that are also demanding, and I ask you, too, to keep up with the times!
I want to bless all of Medjugorje, all the souls that have passed through Medjugorje, all the pilgrims who have understood and those who have not. I want to bless the events of the early times, which were the preparation for our times, and now I especially want to bless our Portal. I want to bless the work that is asked of us in serving the Portal, nourishing the people, becoming new human beings who begin to live as new human beings, detaching ourselves forever from the spirit of the world. We have the grace to do it. We have the grace to become stumbling blocks for those who do not want to fully live by God’s laws and for those who want to remain attached to this world and prefer compromises and worldly attachments. May Mary’s blessing today give us not only the courage but also the joy to truly become co-redeemers with Her. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
