Conversations between Stefania Caterina and Saint Raphael the Archangel1
1.The Relationship Between the Spirit of God and the Spirit of Man
The presence of God is alive in the human spirit where He communicates face to face with the person. Thus, this is the place where God manifests His thoughts. Saint Raphael the Archangel explained this to me in the conversation of 5 April 2009, Palm Sunday.
“A transfer of power takes place from God to the human being. Nearly everyone aspires to this power, even unconsciously. Who would not want to possess divine power, capable of relieving the individual from multiple problems and providing a peaceful life? This is also the main aspiration of those who offer themselves to Satan.
The transfer of power from God to the human being cannot take place without an exchange of love and life between the Holy Spirit and the human spirit. The presence of the Holy Spirit in your spirit, the spark of life, is not merely ‘something additional’, one of the many gifts God has given to you, but rather the origin of all your existence; it is what keeps you alive.
If you do not enter into a relationship with the Holy Spirit in your spirit, no harmony will arise between spirit and soul. You know that this harmony is necessary for the good functioning of your being at the spiritual and the physical level. The Holy Spirit communicates everything to your spirit that is necessary to sustain life. The spirit passes this information on to the soul, and the soul to the brain, the great ‘decoder’, which transforms spiritual impulses into physical ones, in the form of commands that activate all biological functions in the body. It is therefore of fundamental importance that you maintain a close relationship between your spirit and the Spirit of God. This relationship is characterised by love, respect and obedience towards the divine presence in you. Without this, the Holy Spirit continues to keep you alive because God is good and does not interrupt your vital functions, but the quality of your life will suffer from it both spiritually and physically. You may notice the difference between the physical appearance of those whose spiritual life is in harmony and those who live in inner confusion. It is therefore necessary to keep the communication between your spirit and the Holy Spirit maximally active.
A simple life offered to God, a holy life, ensures the maximum opening of the channel of communication between the Spirit of God and the human spirit. When I speak of the holiness of life, I do not refer to a set of devotional practices or the imitation of one Saint or another, even on a purely human level of compassion.
The holiness I mean arises when you allow Christ to live in you and when you live in Christ and for Christ. This can only be achieved by the unconditional offering of oneself to Christ through the Most Blessed Virgin Mary. When you do this, your life will be perfectly regulated by divine laws; the power of God will flow freely towards your spirit and from there to your soul and your body. Everything becomes thus harmonious in you, and not only that: when you live in this manner, you begin to tune into Christ’s mind.”
2. The Human Spirit Understands God’s Mind
Saint Raphael the Archangel continues to deepen this last concept of the human comprehension of the divine mind.
“The Holy Spirit, present in your spirit, is not only responsible for keeping you alive but also for incessantly revealing Jesus Christ and His mind to you. The Holy Spirit helps you open up more and more to Jesus, to love and know Him. In doing so, He leads you to know the mind of Christ, which encloses the power of the mind of the Most Holy Trinity.
The Holy Spirit not only makes you understand and perceive the mind of Christ but also helps you understand it. What does it mean to understand Christ’s mind, that is, God’s mind? When you speak to a person and understand what he wants to say, you also understand his mind because what he expresses is the fruit of his thoughts. Thus, you enter into a living relationship with the person you are talking to.
The same takes place between the Holy Spirit and your spirit: the stronger your relationship with the Holy Spirit is, the more you understand Christ’s mind and live in full communion with Him. Your spirit begins to reason in unison with Christ and transmits these thoughts to the soul. The latter elaborates and transmits them to the brain and thus to the body. The thoughts you express externally through words and gestures thus become powerful and renewed thoughts, which have an impact on the reality that surrounds you and on your internal reality. You become peaceful, harmonious and able to overcome daily difficulties more easily by living according to the eternal rhythm of God who knows no anxiety.
I bless you, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”2
The human spirit is the lamp of the Lord
that sheds light on one’s inmost being.
