Church of Jesus Christ of the Universe

Advent begins this Sunday. Advent is one of the most important times of the year, a very beautiful time, a time of waiting. Among other things, with the arrival of Christmas, the Jubilee Year also comes to a close, a special year in which the Lord, through the Holy Year, in His second coming, His living presence here on Earth, has gathered all that He could gather, all those who have allowed themselves to be embraced by His love and have decided to truly begin to seek life.
The expectation of Jesus, the expectation of the Saviour, as always, must be prepared with our whole being, it must be prepared trying to understand, to enter into this mystery, which is what really matters: the birth of the Saviour, the birth of the One who reopens history, because after the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ every man has regained the grace, strength and power, for his life to return to being the life of a child of God. This is a great mystery, the mystery of God’s love, and welcoming that love, at least trying to allow the Holy Spirit to explain it to us, is what changes our lives, but it would change, if Christians welcomed it, it would change the history of this world too, even in this time, not only as it did two thousand years ago. It would allow everyone to rediscover what it means to be a child of God and it would allow creation to contemplate the children of God through every man and woman, and thus everything would be gathered up in Christ[1].
I think it is clear to everyone how the world, the spirit of the world, has sought in every great festivity, in every great solemnity, to confuse us, to divert our attention from what matters and to direct our being towards less important things which, precisely because they are not necessarily deeply wrong, make us lose sight – in the case of Christmas – of the immense love of God, who gave us a Son. If we think about Christmas, the spirit of Christmas, Father Christmas, then everything is brought down to the level of the soul, of feelings, of affections, of emotions… It all seems very nice, sweet, we must all love one another, but basically, believe me, I think – and you can see it – that the world, the spirit of the world, wants to distract us from looking inside ourselves and saying what the birth of Jesus means.
So, I invite myself and you this year not to stop at Christmas as just the birth of Jesus, as a habit. Everyone, depending on their age, has experienced Christmas many times! Let us not stop at beautiful words, let us not stop at feelings, but let us try to meditate deeply – we will hear these words at Christmas – on what it means that “a Son has been given to us”[2]. And let us try to contemplate that love, the love of the Father who gives us His Son.
I was thinking about this – and I say this to you too – what it must have been like for the angels, for the faithful brothers and sisters of the universe, to understand God the Father, who decides to give us Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity, the love of the Father, the love of the Son, who accepts to become incarnate for our sake. I believe that the angels needed a moment to understand this and, faced with God’s humility, were once again amazed at how great He is, at how much this God deserves to be loved.
So, looking at this Child, looking at Christmas, let us try to move forward quickly to desire Him and love Him. But let us try during this time not to love Him only as this Child – we are grown-up now – but as the Risen One, so that our love may call Him glorious and hasten His glorious return. We have announced to you many times: Jesus is at the door; look, He really is. Let us raise our eyes to heaven and try to contemplate the things that are above, the life above, beginning with Christmas; contemplate the life above with those who already have it. Welcoming God’s love also means to know Him, to understand Him.
So, to understand Him, who more than the Saints, the angels, the Holy Spirit, and Mary Most Holy can help us? This love, I repeat, wants to return in the person of the glorious Jesus, wants to bring us to fulfilment. Every day is Christmas if we allow ourselves to be touched by this love and if we seek it. History must come to its fulfilment. Christianity, without the glorious return, becomes just a religion, it can remain something sentimental, but it is incomplete. The entire Holy Scripture closes with: “It is finished”, but not everything has been accomplished.
The glorious return of Jesus, the ultimate victory over corruption and death, is central to Christianity and requires the participation of everyone. Ours is the desire, the search, the wish to know Him, to love Him because He deserves to be loved precisely because He gave us a Son, His Son. Everything must be gathered up in Jesus Christ, everything must return to its original dimension: every man and every woman and all creatures. So, let us walk in this way during Advent, let us not waste graces and let us take time to meditate, to reflect, to seek the things that are above. Talk to your angels, to the saints who are dearest to you, exchange as you would with a friend, a brother or a sister here on Earth, and you will see that we will take a step forward in the knowledge of the laws of the Spirit and bring the Heavenly Jerusalem closer to us.
May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
